Narrative art is a type of art which tells a story. It comes in all shapes and forms. Narrative art is supposed to connect to human emotion and help us relate to certain scenarios. Humans have been using narrative art from the beginning of time.
It is 35000 years old and shows the story of a bull being hunted. You can clearly see the arrows pointing at the animal.

AFRICA
The death of township art
In this piece of art there are some sort of devils that are taking away a giraffe. I think it relates to predators killing prey in Africa.

ANCIENT EGYPT
Hieroglyphics
Ancient Egyptians literally used art to communicate. Their language - hieroglyphics - were put on all the walls of tombs and pyramids. This is an example. I believe it is telling the story a woman bowing down to the Pharaoh at the time.

RENAISSANCE
The Adoration of the Magi
This painting definitely tells a story. It show different religious figures and normal 'mortals' living in harmony in the same world.

MODERN
Ragno's Place
This image is a little more confusing than the others. It is slightly distorted. To me it looks like there is a man in a restaurant and his table has been knocked over. Maybe he threw it in anger or he was standing up to leave and he may have accidentally tipped the table.

After The Prom Bored Sick Ragno's Place
These three paintings are all examples of narrative art.
Similarities- They all tell a story. They all use colour to help tell their stories. Each of them relates to an emotion. (After the Prom - Excitement, Bored Sick - Bored and sick, Ragno's Place - Anger.) They all use different colours to help the focal point stand out.
Differences- They all tell a different story (One tells the story of prom, one show what it is like to stay home sick and one tells the story of a man at a restaurant.). Bored Sick and Ragno's Place use bright and vibrant colours while After the Prom uses dull colours. Bored Sick and Ragno's Place have a lot going on in the background while After the Prom is less 'busy'. After the Prom and Bored Sick have clear images that are easy to understand while Ragno's Place is more distorted. After the Prom and Bored Sick also had more lifelike drawings while Ragno's Place is a little more abstract.
